Garden with Views
This small garden had a wonderful outlook of open fields which our clients wished to maximise. A raised hardwood deck was created for them, incorporating a modern, stainless steel water feature in order to sit and enjoy the surroundings with the benefit of the gentle sound of water.
This lovely property had been sensitively updated keeping many of the original features. The garden was to be treated with the same respect, keeping and re-using period materials where possible and adding to the effect with sympathetic additions and cottage style planting.
This elegant property needed a garden that catered for our clients' needs as well as being in keeping with the house. A straight path leads to a walled kitchen garden, a route that was fixed due to a red setter that would always take that path as well as being a natural desire line. A large wrought iron gazebo planted with climbing roses flanked the joining paths.
We completed plans for this garden in stages, as our clients' confidence in gardening increased and their requirements from the garden changed. Magnificent views of the South Downs National Park became visible after extensive clearing which resulted in the whole of the garden being transformed.
Modern Country House
This was a new build property in a small Dorset village. Our brief was to design and plant the garden to be in keeping with the house. Fragrant and tactile planting in the raised sleeper beds softened the edge of the patio and colourful country style planting in the beds create an ever-changing vista.
This lovely old stone cottage had a courtyard area in front of the house in which parterres were created. We used a standard olive tree in the centre of two of the beds and standard roses in the others. These were surrounded by a combination of herbs and colourful perennial plants to give vibrant colour in the spring and summer.
