A square lawn and straight borders make the
garden uninspiring and soulless. The block
paved path up the side of the house had to
remain, as did the section in front of the
house.
A
limited palette of purples, oranges and greens
keeps the planting cohesive. Grasses and
Bamboos add colour and movement. The brick
edged circle is to house a large pot which
the clients wish to source themselves and
will act as a focal point.
A
curving path edged with treated timber, snakes
diagonally across the garden. Gravel and
small pebbles combine to make an interesting
backdrop for clusters of larger cobbles.
A group of small rocks act as a full stop
at the end of the path. Positioned sleepers
aid walking and enhance the curve.
Small
Front Garden
Even a tiny front garden
such as this can be maximised and transformed into
an interesting and attractive space. Our brief
was to remove the existing lawn and to create a
low maintenance frontage that would look good all
year round. The use of gravel, cobbles and small
rocks was requested and also grasses and architectural
planting. Our clients did not want the finished
result to look bleak or to be a beach pastiche.
They were very definite about the colour palette
and the use of interesting materials and details. |
