An intimate seating area was created out of cost effective wooden decking and the retention, made necessary by the sloping nature of the garden, was achieved by using individual log poles cemented into the ground.
The garden before had a very poor lawn and a patio that was too small to be utilised for seating. It was difficult to maintain and impractical.
The removal of the lawn makes this space attractive with very little maintenance required. The undulating nature of the log poles allows for level changes as required. A pergola over the deck, will in time, have climbers growing over to create shade. A small seating area was created at the end of the garden to enjoy the evening sun.
This before picture, taken from almost the same angle, illustrates how uninspiring the patio and garden was.
Self Build Garden
This garden was a difficult shape narrowing down to a sharp point and sloping. The aim of the design was to create a garden for adults to enjoy in the evening. It needed to be low maintenance and able to be built without professional help. |
